student teacher
The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind. ~Kahlil Gibran
three full weeks of teaching in sta. ana gave me a much clearer perspective on how it is really to be a TEACHER. surely, i was in fantasy mode before i even began taking education units this semester. i have this vivid idea of what a teacher is supposed to be and the same goes for how students should behave and act inside the classroom. louanne johnson, portrayed by michelle pfeiffer in the movie “dangerous minds”, for me imbued the characteristics of a superior teacher. oh! how i dream to become like her!
now faced with the actual classroom scenario, i realized that it is not easy as it seems. it entails a lot of hard work and patience. most of all, it calls for LOVE. loving what i do and loving the students whom i am responsible for. their learning and growth, i am accountable for.
i pray that i will have enough strength, endurance and tenacity to become a success in the field of education. there are lots of things i know i am good at. but, i hope to be an exceptional educator, a successful one at that. with God’s grace, i will become one.
